When there is what fans refer to, for lack of a better term as “beef” in the fight game. The stories that form them can write themselves with the help of some decent match-making. That is the case for Bellator 187: McKee vs Moore.
Originally, James Gallagher was set to fight Jeremiah Labiano but was forced to withdraw from the card after suffering an injury during training, leaving room for his divisional rival to headline an event in hostile territory. Moore’s previously scheduled opponent, Andre Goncalves (3-1), will now face Northern Ireland’s Decky Dalton (7-3). A.J. McKee will now face one of Gallagher’s teammates in Brian Moore.
Gallagher last fought at Bellator’s inaugural event in New York last June when he scored a first-round submission win over Chinzo Machida. Both Gallagher and McKee have mentioned each other a lot lately and regardless of what happens in Dublin this Friday, the two seem destined to face each other at some point.
For now, McKee has a fight to win and after having a unanimous decision win in his last fight against Blair Tugman at Bellator 182, the second generation mixed martial artist is looking to keep his momentum going. A win over a rival’s teammate could only add to a rivalry that should be worthy of another main event for these young men in 2018.
Main Card – Spike TV – 9:00pm ET / 6:00pm PT [TAPE DELAY] A.J. McKee Jr. vs. Brian Moore Sinead Kavanagh vs. Maria Casanova Charlie Ward vs. John Redmond Kevin Ferguson Jr. vs. Fred Freeman Paul Redmond vs. Sergio de Jesus Santos
