Belmora would have been more popular if people found Kikimora attractive. A lot of shipping in general has to do with whether a person finds the people being shipped attractive and will usually gloss over any ships or the potential of any ships for a character they find unattractive.

That was me! Thank you so much! I remember one day I just thought about the two together and then went to see how much fanfiction there was for the ship and I actually expected there to be more. There isn’t actually a ship name as far as I can see, but I think Belmora might be a good one.

I think one of the main reasons I ship it is because I feel like Kikimora is a really interesting character given that she’s in such a high position in Boiling Isles society, yet she’s also kind of seen as pathetic/a general annoyance by everyone around her. From what we heard between Kikimora and her mom it also might be that she doesn’t have the best relationship with her family, although this only comes from one line so I’m not sure how much weight to put on it.

I’m just headcanoning right know, but I can imagine a situation where the people around Kikimora never really respected her much as she was growing up so she decides she’ll get their respect by joining the Emperor’s Coven, and when she does as it turn out Kikimora won’t be just a regular coven scout, but the emperor’s personal assistant (not entirely sure how that would work, but whatever.) Like maybe Belos “saw something special in her” and he tells Kikimora this specifically, so now not only has she gone from a position of low respect to one of high respect, but also it appears like the emperor thinks positively of her so now Kikimora, who’s never been in this situation before, wants to do everything in her power to keep Belos’ approval.

And maybe that’s what Belos saw in Kikimora, that she very badly craves approval and that is why he chose her as his assistant because after so many Golden Guards turning against Belos, he needs to make sure he has at least one person who will be in his corner no matter what.

Maybe at some point Kikimora’s desire for Belos’s approval turns into a desire for his love and Belos picks up on this and uses it to his advantage, or maybe he does love Kikimora in some way, but ultimately like everyone else in Kikimora’s life Belos doesn’t see Kikimora as someone he should respect, so now Kikimora finds herself having everything she wanted but at the same time still being back at square one.

I don’t know if this makes any since and truly most of this is just sustained by headcanons, but I think these types of toxic relationships based on full devotion of one person and no devotion from the other are just really interesting to take a close look at. But genuinely I would love to see other people’s thoughts on this!
