OOC// Saying Goodbye to my cat, Maple Syrup
For my own sake, I wanted to make a post to honor the wonderful life of my little, orange cat, Maple Syrup, who I will soon be having to say goodbye to.
Unfortunately, for the last few months, but especially the last week, her health has deteriorated due to a cancer in her bladder. She’s been faithfully by my side for ten years, and her approaching absence will weigh heavily on my family and I, who loved her with all our hearts.
She was known as the sweetest cat anyone has ever encountered by the vets who treated her. She never hissed, and was always so cooperative with the people who she knew were helping her.
Maple made such a lasting difference in all the lives she touched. It is only fair for me to share some of my fondest memories of her.
She made the cutest little squeaks instead of meows, and I loved when a yawn would interrupt her words, stretching the meow into a long held note. She loved cardboard boxes, and would claim any and all that arrived at our house. Her favorite was when we would stand them on their side to make a little house for her. She had a ring-shaped cardboard toy that she loved to sit inside in a loaf. We always said it made her look like a news anchor. She was an obsessive groomer and completely licked her stomach bald. Although we missed her stomach fuzz, it always made me laugh to see the loose skin down there sag on her back feet when she sat, making her look like a penguin. She loved human food. Her favorites were sugar cookies, which she often snatched away during the holidays, Eggo waffles, cheese puffs, popcorn (the first human food I ever gave her), and whipped cream. She would always poke her head out when she heard the pantry door open, and run over to see the commotion, before pretending she was leisurely walking when we turned to look. She had a special seat on our couch, and everyone would scrunch up away from the area, even when she wasn’t currently there, because she would stare at us disapprovingly if she saw it occupied. She loved sitting in our sunroom and watching the many birds that came to our yard. Christmas was always a special time of year. She would never jump on the tree, or eat at the ribbons of the presents. We had a separate small tree for gifts for our pets, and Maple always knew when they were hers, and eagerly watched us open them for her. It was a gift in itself to watch her play with the torn up wrapping paper and ribbons after everything was said and done.
Over the years, I watched Maple blossom into her own. She was initially a skittish cat who never came downstairs when there was commotion; and became one who would plop herself next to us like the couch potato she was, whenever she got the chance. It deeply sorrows me to imagine there will be days that I will wake up to not find her sleeping on the edge of my bed, nor eagerly approaching to sniff whatever object I brought home to add to their ‘database’ of smells.
I love you, Maple. You were the best cat a person could ever ask for, and I will miss you so very very much. Please rest in peace, and know that we love you.

Hi, I know it's a bit silly but can I ask for a prayer request? My old family's dog has been very sick and makes me so sad and anxious seeing her that way, she's like an angel to me. I can't even being myself to write it but if the worst happens can you pray that I'm strong enough to bear taking that last trip with her to the vet? Or that she might get a bit better? You don't need to answer this ask, just knowing that you recieved it brings me a little peace
Of course, anon! ❤️🔥
I have been there. I was blessed enough to have my childhood dog, Spot, for 14 long, happy years. I know how you feel, and I pray for strength and peace of heart for you.
P.S. If it's her time to go, don't be afraid to mourn the way your body demands to mourn.
Please keep me updated! Much love.
Best Kitty
Sammy was the best kitty
He came into our lives as an orphaned little ball of fluff in need of a forever home, and left us a home that is forever his. He was the purrsonification of comfort and love, willing and ready to follow me anywhere he saw me going, full of big purrs and cuddles, and always ready to groom his family with warm licks.
We will miss you. The world is made so much darker with your passing, and we must console ourselves with the knowledge you are beyond all suffering, and we have 14 wonderful years of you to hold onto. May this ensure that some small part of the internet remain forever Samwise.

finished my baby girls gravestone, I miss her deeply, truly my best friend and forever companion.
So gentle and affectionate... you are missed, darling kitty 🤍
