Working with young people for two decades now has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. I started with just listening in small groups and then gradually learned to design programs for them. It is challenging and facilitation requires a lot of energy, patience and creativity. Yesterday I felt refreshed by this encounter with very smart, good hearted and talented young church guys. My last exercise for them was to create a song out of the stories and reflections we had earlier. My only requirement were lyrics. They churned out 3 new songs with melodies in one hour. As a mentor I maybe expected to say that they are beautiful but in reality all of the outputs were beautiful! Ang lalim ng hugot, naproseso talaga ang assignment and the melodies... Ugh! I told them areas that need to be polished so they can record it and sing it in church. I hope they pursue it. Gusto ko tuloy mag lead pa ng workshop of different types of young artists. Underscores the need for careful handling of the process. Just very proud of them. Thanks DGG!
