Carter’s spent the past three or so doing odd jobs in the UK. He was a touring drummer for an upcoming punk band for a while, he was a hospital janitor, and worked as a shop keep for a department store. The only reason he’s stateside again is because his visa ran out.
Carter has a bad track records with relationships. He, much like Thana is a bit of a drifter and has a bad habit of running away before things can get really serious. The longest relationship he’s ever had lasted six months and it was with merch girl who was on tour with the band he was traveling with at the time. It lasted the length of tour and then a couple months after. Then she wanted to get serious and he got cold feet. He is very aware this is a character flaw and is working to correct it.
He’s been in at least 14 bands since the age of 16 when he took up drums seriously. He’s toured with even more, having a decent reputation for being a good stand in drummer if you need someone in a pinch.
He picked up smoking while on the road with a band at the age of 17. He doesn’t smoke as often as he did then, but he still does. It and alcohol are his two big vices.
Carter wears a lot of bracelets. When he was still in bands, they were typically fan gifts. After he left the last band he was in, the tendency to have bracelets stuck, and now he wears some old fan gift bracelets and leather bracelets. They’re usually the easiest present to get him if someone’s stuck on what to get him. And all the bracelets that wore out, or fell off that he didn’t lose, are in a box that lives with him at his apartment.
Carter is well aware that he is the subject of a couple of songs. His commitment issue with relationships, while it never bled into his commitment to any given band, well… let’s just say that Carter is aware people find him attractive and when you spend every waking hour with the same group of people for several months of the year, he figured out that not all of his bandmates leanings were entirely platonic. He jokes about it frequently.
Carter has no shame in his sexuality. He did discover it when touring though, but that was mostly due to lack of exposure to anything outside of the gay/straight metaphorical dichotomy. But he typically doesn’t bring it up, unless asked about it. He’s out to his parents and his sister.
He’s played for mixed gender bands. For a while he was the only dude in an all female punk band, that was a wild ride, and he will always recommend female fronted bands and is usually always in the mood to discover a new one. He’s also extremely protective of female fans. Either of bands he’s currently in, or if he’s just a fan at a show. He chalks it up to mostly “older brother” instincts, but also just awareness that sometimes the punk scene treats women like shit, even though it was in ways built by women. If you cross a teenage girl and Carter’s around, you will get decked. It’s also a reason he keeps the shop open hellishly late. It's pretty well known locally that if a girl thinks she’s being followed, she can duck into Radiance and hide out until a cab is called or someone can be contacted to get her.
Carter is consciously aware that he’s a 6’ tall dude who while looking like a stiff wind could knock him over is kinda intimidating when he wants to be. So he makes an effort to be kind and smile a lot. It seems to put people at ease and is also sometimes the curse that results in his frequent appearance in indie punk songs. His height also leads to him being a perfect pit member. He’s the first to let shorter girls go in front of him, let anyone get into the air if they wanna crowd surf, and most importantly, if someone starts freaking out, he’s the first to clear a hole and get them out of the pit if need be.
