#ben 10 rant

So sometimes i get myself thinking about Ben 10. And then i remember one of my wildest but still believed takes inside my brain:

WE. Yes, WE, and the entirety of the cast [aside from maybe Ben's Parents, Gwen and Max], don't know Ben. At all.

Bear with me. Don't harass me for this, but it just feels somewhat...right.

So it is canonical that Ben's whole friendly exterior while fighting is so enemies out their guard down and think he's weak. I find that an interesting fact about him, but then i remember the Episode Above and Beyond [If i remember correctly Season 3 of Ben 10 Alien force, Episode 14], Ben went fully into a different type of exterior.

He was extremely convincing that he turned evil or somewhat malicious. If i remember correctly, when i first saw that episode, i thought it was Albedo or that Ben was actually being Mind Controlled like Max said.

That got me thinking...what if...Ben's exterior...is fake? The puns, carefree personality, extroverted demeanor...what if he was just acting?

As proved in the episode just mentioned, Ben is a good actor. He can misdirect and mislead without MOSTLY blowing his cover whenever he actually decides to focus on the task in hand. So if Ben ever had a secret, i think if would be something to the lines of "We've never met the actual Ben Tennyson".

Maybe his personality is completely different to what he shows himself to be, and he just keeps being like this for the sake of continuity? Or maybe because he feels safer without showing himself, and finds comfort in this heroic persona. Possibly because he hates being Vulnerable.

Maybe he never warmed up to some people [EX. Plumber's Helpers, Rook, or even Kevin], but pretends to have, according to his sculpted persona. It's possible that if this were ever to be somewhat near the truth, Ben would not only be a character that was never really "revealed" as their true self, and that would genuinely put up some really good plot points if the series ever got any type of continuation [which is unlikely]

I like to see him like this because then i get to meet him again. Or maybe not, he wouldn't trust me.

Another thing to take into consideration is that this is my take on Ben based off of what i feel about him. This is how i view his character.

Theres two things i wanna rant about! For the first one, someone on twt tweeted about saying they dont like that the ben 10 comic is an "edgy body horror comic". Are we fucking serious rn? Edgy?! Im not even gonna entertain them much on the body horror part CUZ THIS FRANCHISE BEEN HAD FUCKING BODY HORROR IN IT FFS ARE THEY DUMB?! But edgy? Atp its just a buzzword to you people cuz wdym edgy? If this is edgy then what makes The Boys? Light hearted? Omfg people just be saying ANYTHING.

Next is joe casey wanting a live action ben 10 feature film with the comic as the source material. Now ik not everyone is on board on it and thinks it should stay animated, but i think we should atleast give it a chance. If a franchise like Sonic can make a live action work, then so can ben 10. It.. just depends on the budget and writing 😅. The two live-action ones ben 10 got werent the best, but it was great for its time imo.

But i will say it kinda is a bit too early for him to talk about a live action so soon. I think they should make a TV series out of the comic first THEN we can get into talking about a live action film. But overall id say we should be cautiously optimistic about it if it does ever happen, as long as MOA (aka man of action) are the ones writing the story.

Some say animation is where "the heart and soul" is at for ben 10 (in regards to not wanting a live action), but i disagree. Its anywhere no matter the medium. Animation may be where ben 10 originated, but that doesnt mean he should always stay animated. They can put just as much heart and soul into live action and comics than they can in animation.

Ok, can we talk about how Bezel, the most powerful magic user in the universe and is sort of the reason magic is a thing in Omniverse, only got ONE EPISODE and practically did nothing with his knowledge of magic but let some kids into a library and just handed himself as a totem over to Charmcaster? You’d think with all that build up over the four shows about Bezel ( even if he wasn’t originally a person, but a place ) the writers would give him more of a reason to be there than just “Ok, this guy is Bezel, he states he’s all powerful, but hates to use real magic because it makes things too easy? So what do we do with that? OH, I KNOW! We make him open some door to the school library, hand himself over to the villain, and that’s it. No magic duel between them or anything, just totem Bezel and he relies on Ben to save him and the others in the end. EPISODE OVER!”

I love Bezel so much, like I love how he’s just essentially a good guy version of Mumbo, but MAN did they waste his potential as a character who should’ve been important to the charm school arc and had more screentime to show for it.

Also, he’s rocking those overalls. 👀

i love ben 10 with my whole heart but aliens being so normalized by the end of the series makes me sad sometimes

i miss how weird everything was in the beginning. the aliens were totally unpredictable, often gross- nobody had any idea what they were gonna pull or what abilities they had. i miss that fascination

I gotta remember even if theres alotta positivity towards this ben 10 comic, theres always some negativity towards it, it wasnt alot, iirc all i saw was 2, even then it still bothers me. Like someone saying "LoWkEy tHiS betTeR tHaN the NeWesT bEn 10 RebOot".

I get we all have our opinions but my nigga WE JUST STARTED, and this was like a day or 2 before issue 2 like holy fuxking shit give it some time. Even then it would still bother me regardless 😭.

Now issue 2 is out someone said that it looks "stiff" and should change the artist and they're "disappointed" (towards the art i assume). My god you people always disappointed with sum abt this comic.

Dont read the damn thing then! And how is it stiff?? I didnt see much but i dont know how you think its "stiff". FUCK, you people are irritating! And this is on tik tok too to no surprise smh. I mean cmon, 'change the artist'. Really?! Genuinely fuck off!

(Rant incoming) Istg people on tiktok be saying ANYTHING. It was about the ben 10 comic (i didnt read everything on what they said cuz fuck that but they were definitely hating on it) and what they were talking about in the comments saying if they cared they woulda hired an artist for which im assuming they meant for about drawing ben and gwen decent.

Look robert careys a good artist who can draw monsters, aliens and other characters extremely well, the problem people have is how he draws children (not in a weird way). The creators absolutely care, they've probably been wanting something like this for yeaaars.

God forbid they decided to make a comic that the creators wanted to do for so long. Sonic, tmnt and transformers, PowerPuffGirls literally all have fucking comics but its a problem that ben 10 gets one? I get it! You wanted a show, i did (and still do) too, but us getting a comic DOESNT MEAN THE FRANCHISE IS GOING DOWN-FUCKING-HILL YOU IDIOTS.

This show (especially back when OS aired) has comic book DNA in it so it had to happen eventually that we're getting a comic (HECK THE CREATORS LITERALLY CAME FROM FUCKING COMICS). Im not trying to say we should be grateful that we're getting content, but rather we shouldn't be out here acting all immature, salty and overdramatic just because we're getting a comic book and not a show. We'll get one, but not today.

Ben 10 rant #1987 (iykyk)

I dont care how many times im gonna say this. In terms of the story, STOP COMPARING THE BEN 10 COMIC TO ANY OF THE OLD SHOWS. NOTHING IS GONNA BE THE SAME, THERES NO "OUT OF CHARACTER" OR "MISCHARACTERIZING" WHEN ITS A WHOLE NEW CONTINUITY (WE JUST STARTED TOO), AND THE PACING ISNT GONNA BE THE SAME AS FROM THE SHOW, THE WAY THIS COMIC IS PACED IS NO DIFF TO OTHER SUPERHERO COMICS (also because its a 20 page issue which is the only disappointing thing about it). No ones saying you shouldnt criticize it but you shouldn't criticize it just because "its not like classic" or any of the old shows when thats the whole fucking point.

Ofc some mf on twt said "they're going to ruin our childhood" when they recently showed sneak peaks of the ben 10 comic. Like fuck out my face with that shit. Mfs just be saying anything and dont know what they're talking about. Im assuming they're talking about the artstyle, but they're not "ruining our childhood". Istg this is one of the most immature things anyone could ever say about a franchise.

Grow tf up and move on, the creators care deeply for this franchise, and this comic is something they probably always wanted to do since they themselves came from comics. My fucking god! Theres disliking something and then theirs 'that'. Stg niggas cant have SHIT nowadays smh.
