There is something so interesting to me about Ken Tennyson in Ben 10 Omniverse, especially from the perspective of Ben. (Ignoring Ben 10k lore from before Omniverse)
Because literally picture you yourself are a child soldier (no argument that’s what Ben is) and you love what you do and your proud of it but when you’ve been doing it for twenty years you definitely become aware that you were shouldered with this responsibility at far too young of an age. And you have trauma from it.
So then you have this kid. And obviously when you have a child they become your whole world, and something extremely precious you want to protect. So I can’t imagine Ben would want Kenny to start doing any hero work until he’s at least out of high school, and even then he isn’t sure. He doesn’t want his son to be a child soldier like he was. And literally, all Kenny wants, is to try his hardest to fill his dad’s shoes as soon as possible. So you have to keep telling him no without him really understanding why.
AND THEN, you find out at the peak of the Time War, that your son is the time traveler who helped you out in your teen years. The time traveler who you trusted blindly and had no idea who he was. And not only that, but one of your most trusted allies gave him this ability, without asking you.
And the realization dawns on you that your son was always fated to this, and there was nothing you could’ve done to shelter him or protect, because time had to play out this way. His son had to become Spanner, so the Time War would go the way it was supposed to.
And you realize your grandfather sealed the fate of what Tennyson’s do, and Tennyson’s protect the universe. Even if they’re just children.
Idk I just like the idea of superheroes who have kids not immediately just throwing superheroing at them. Like actually trying to give them a normal childhood.
