If Ben is not at the funeral im going to be so upset.

i know it might not be possible but so many people loved Maddie and we know Ben was neck and neck with sophie... I feel like the Characters that have been portrayed as helen and mike wouldnt keep him from going? so im going to be annoyed if they dont have him there.

So I was thinking earlier and, what do you think Ben thought about his sister having a girlfriend? How do you think Maddie told him? Also, what do you think he thought of Sophie and their relationship?

Oh wow okay. Imma try and sort my thoughts out for this. 

So, here’s kinda what I think. Maddie spent her life taking care of her brother, her mum, herself, and generally trying to keep her family in the least amount of chaos that she could. So she didn’t put much thought into romance or sex. It just wasn’t on her mind. The fact that she wasn’t into blokes was just sorta there. She had no reason to fear or deny being gay(or even say she was) – didn’t have to worry about family rejecting her, she(probably later?) was living on the streets anyway, had no real social group to worry about. It wasn’t a big reveal to her(again, she had other things to worry about). It just was. (Because girls are well pretty.)

Now with Ben I think they have a close and fairly open relationship, so it was just sorta there. Just as it wasn’t a big reveal to Maddie it wasn’t to Ben either. Ben is young enough, smart enough, and loves his sister to where any news of her being with a girl wasn’t a shock at all. Actually the news that Maddie was actually with somebody in a relationship would be more of a shock than the who of her partner. Maddie probably pulled him aside to tell him that Sophie was her girlfriend and to behave and he would’ve just accepted it. I don’t think there was any need for some big talk between them.

I’m sure Ben likes Sophie. For as much as they know each other, she’s nice, friendly, will talk to him instead of sitting there awkwardly when Maddie leaves the room, and she seems to genuinely like him as well, so he feels comfortable and happy to be around her. He’s also witnessed some things about Sophie that he(in his younger wisdom) thinks is good for Maddie(from not eating raw cake batter to not running off with him). And she means a lot to and makes his sister happy, so he has nothing against her.

Nothing really dramatic or emotional here but that’s just sorta how I see it. *shrugs*
