BEFORE HUDSON LAKE:
Benjamin moved to Derry, Maine with his parents when he was a young teenager. The move had been particularly rough on him due to some of the kids of this small down being exceptionally judgmental and cruel. Henry Bowers was the worst of them all and would relentlessly attack him about his weight which caused Ben to develop major insecurities.
The boy hadn’t even been in school for a month before summer rolled around. He was pegged as a social outcast until a girl named Beverly Marsh started to treat him like a person, and immediately the boy was infatuated by her kindness and beauty.
Eventually, just before summer began after his move, Ben met a group of kids that called themselves the Loser’s Club. It was this friendship that helped the boy find his own courage so that he could stand up to his own bullies, and even man devouring monsters.
Yes, so it turns out that he and his unlikely group of friends defeated an ancient monsters that attempted to feed on them one my one. However, they made a pact by the end of that summer that if the monster ever showed it’s face in Derry again they would reunite. Ben agreed to these terms.
During his high school years he had began to find more confidence and took the harsh words of his bullies and turned it to fuel. The boy worked out, got in shape, and pursued a career in architecture after high school.
Currently:
The craziness of waking up in an unfamiliar place sent Ben into a bit of a panic at first. He came to assume that it was a hallucination manifested by the very monster that tormented him and his friends. He relapsed a bit in his confidence, being uncertain of himself and his surroundings.
He discovered that there were others like him though, and recognized a few familiar faces around town that helped ease his mind. He came to learn that he is a student of Hudson Lake University and is working towards his Bachelors degree in Architecture.
He currently lives in a dorm room at the University and is a full time student. At least being stuck here wouldn’t interrupt his whole career path, right? He still wishes to return home, back to his real life.
