You know since the recent resurgence of ben10 cuz of the comic, fortnite collabs and daylight curfew merch.

It seems like there is a rise in people who feel like they need to put down the franchise especially with ig "traditional" comic fans.

I've seen people be like "why does the ben10 fanbase keep getting new things", "why are they so immature" and it's like how is ben10 getting new iterations any different from having multiple iterations of tmnt or transformers or batman or Spiderman?

Are they not all things made for kids that have stood the test time? Why is it ok for them and not ben10? Why is it considered a cashgrab when ben10 does it but tmnt who is only about 20 years older than ben10 can exist forever.

"Ben10 is childish" like so is batman, so is Spider-Man etc these are properties made for children too. Them being made for kids does not discount their quality and story potential.

Like it's fine to not like the series, it's fine to be unfamiliar with the series but man how are you questioning a franchises right to continue and you're eating up each new batman, Spider-Man etc comic,cartoon, movie, video game etc. Like nigga YOU should understand why certain IPs have longevity.

But then also just Let people enjoy things

Gonna keep rambling about the comic cuz I wanna but this is something I noticed that kinda piqued my interest a bit.

So robert carey did this cover for a reprint of issue one right and this without a doubt looks much different than how ben himself looks in the comic most notably the hair.(which I always prefer ben to have longer hair anyway.) But what piqued my interest is that this art would've been done after issue 1 and 2 were finished which means that robert would've already had a finalized look for Ben.

Cuz for reference this is how he looks in issue 1. So there would be no need for such a drastic change and at first I just dismissed it as just being a variant cover artstyle thing but then I looked at the panels Joe Casey posted for issue 3 and.

If you look closely Ben's hair has that longer look that is has in the variant cover.

So now I'm wondering was Ben's design not finalized before they did the first issue or did rob after doing the first 2 issues just decide that he preferred drawing Ben with longer hair.

Cuz if you look at this panel from issue 2 Ben does havethe short hair from issue 1.

Taking into account what duncan said about the designs not being finalized when they were doing the variant covers for issues 1 and 2 I'm beginning to believe that Ben wasn't finalized either.

Same with this fourarms, though it is possible that Robert simply decided that he wanted to start drawing them differently too.

But I do prefer these looks a bit more so I'm kinds hoping they'll look like this going forward.

We Finally have official information about the new ben10 comic along with some covers. They also dropped some preview pages And it sounds/looks like the classic series but serious.

Looks like the government will be involved possibly pursuing ben and co.

Also the aliens look sick, the omnitrix looks sick too. It looks soo alien and his aliens look soo freaky I love it!

Also looks like the reboot roster and a new guy which is also goated.

I'm psyched.

Just watch the damn interview.

Like it's literally one of the first 3 questions that he answers and explains.

And I truly need these "ben 10 news reporters" to lock in and stop spreading misinfo.

First it was "vilgax won't be in the comic cuz cn didn't allow it."

Then it was "Ben's parents are getting a divorce and Ben's father is abusive."

Now its "Joe Casey doesn't like the name Ben10 so Ben's getting a new hero name."

Likeeeee it has to be on purpose atp.

The Ben10 fandom has a serious misinformation problem cuz if you watch the interview this is just straight up not true. Cuz kuro asked Joe if he plans for Ben to actually be called Ben10 in the comic and Joe said as of right now there are no plans and that he was never fond of Ben being called Ben10 in universe.

To take that and spin it into "Ben is gonna have a new name in the comic is just gonna create unnecessary discourse cuz now people who haven't even read the comic are shit talking it and noone is actually gonna watch the interview to actually confirm it.

This the Bens parents are gonna get a divorce thing all over again.

This last week or so has definitely solidified why I don't really do fandoms anymore or why I simply don't interact with popular shit.

Cuz the ben10 fandom is either constantly fighting over which show is better and when they're not doing that they're shitting on any new iteration that drops or just being loudly uneducated.

The avatar fandom is surprisingly toxic. Between the shipping discourse, aang/korra hate,the racism/misogyny and damn near ever "phobia" ever,the way some people are behaving over avatar seven havens and how people are spoiling the new movie and insulting/cursing the animators who are rightfully distraught over their shit being leaked you can't toss a stone an inch without running into a toxi avatar fan.

Not to mention how the dragonball fandom will somehow manage to find a reason to complain about every new thing that happens in the franchise.

It's like damn can none of yall be chill?

The DP fandom is cool tho, I like yall.

Just read issue#1 of Ben10 and without going into spoilers it's a solid start,It doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything too crazy but it feels like an episode of classic in the best way.

Ben,Gwen and Max while they are clearly new iterations don't feel like drastic recreations and feel more in line with what you'd expect of them.

The art is good,like are there some wonky shots here and there, sure but for the most part the art is very solid and about what you'd expect. Some shots look great and some shots like kinda meh. Lots of good expressions in this issue as well. All in all it's not bad art just more like it takes awhile to get used to, I personally had to read twice just to get used to it.

When it comes to the tone, it's definitely on the more serious side but not necessarily edgy like people assumed it would be. Think the classic series if it took itself more seriously that's what the comic is,the reboot influence is very scarce in this 1st issue so it does seem like while they are using the reboot playlist classic series is their template.

My only gripes I'd say is that the pacing and some of Ben's dialog is a bit weird.

The pacing thing may just be because we did see alot from the ashcan preview as well as the trailer so it feels like things go by alot faster. Which the fast paced direction works well cuz this is a monthly comic and they have alot of ground to cover.

But all in all a very solid start

I'd give it a 7.5 or 8 out of 10

Definitely looking forward to seeing more of it.

Need this to run for 100 issues.

Ok so it seems this is wildvines final look which does seem like just a more monstrous version of his classic series look complete with the flytrap collar and all which I have to say i prefer.

Not that i disliked this design it's moreso that the newer one seems to have a more concrete idea of what it wants to be instead of just being a nebulous plant monster. Since Robert carey stated that this wildvine can combine and separate his vines i have a theory that both of these designs will come to play in the comic in some capacity but the newer is definitely his confirmed final design.
