I just discovered this little animation of Drizzt Do'Urden and company. It was made over 14 years ago in 2000 by Ben Dai and Bruno Velazquez during their fall semester at the California Institute of the Arts.
They both used the animation to later get into the gaming industry. Ben went on to join the Blizzard Cinematic Team and Bruno joined Sony's Gods of War 2 team.
Bruno says in his blog that the "film was inspired by characters found in novels written by R.A. Salvatore which include Drizzt (Dark Elf), Bruenor (Dwarf), Wulfgar (Barbarian), and Entreri (Assasin)."
and "as many of the Drizzt fans have noticed, we took several artistic freedoms in the portrayal of the characters as well as with the actual events as compared to the novels."
Back in 2007, he mentioned that they would consider doing a 3D version with enough interest. Can you imagine this with the details of the Blizzard cinematic??? o m g. Now I feel compelled to go hunt these guys out and beg them to start a kickstarter campaign!
