Remember when Flash Thompson was in GOTG and did absolutely nothing for plot. Why did Bendis add Flash Thompson to GOTG when he had no plans for him?

He did a Symbiote arc and then totally ignored him. He did the same to Carol, had her in GotG and then did nothing with her other than have her as a background character. Drax was also just there.

Honestly if the character wasn't Kitty Pryde, Ben Grimm, or Star-Lord Bendis really didn't care much for them.

Wait, he did use Gamora, but he mostly just had her get kidnapped and had bad guys beat on her and it was annoying and frustrating.

Remember that one time Bendys had Sharon appear in his last issue of GotG for no other reason but to have her glare at Rocket, Peter and Carol?

Out of nowhere Irani Rael and Morrow appear! How can they still be Novas You say?! After Rich took all of the Nova force, well Bendis doesn’t care about continuity.

That said this is a nice drawing of them (although Irani’s head should be bigger) and I’m glad to see them again, hopefully we see them in the Nova title or in Duggan’s GotG (since the corps is suppose to be back in that comic).

That said don’t bother with this issue.

I’m so glad today was his last issue (which was this issue’s main selling point, that he was leaving! Lol).

Anyway, good riddance and I’m looking forward to Duggan’s run.

Don't you think it's weird that Bendis introduced the Knowhere Corps and then did nothing with them?

Nah. I’m assuming he threw out some background thing on what some of the other (real) Guardians are up to in an attempt to appease Cosmic fans upset that all non-movie Guardians have been completely ignored/forgotten (while more popular characters are nonsensically added to the team) in the hopes that we’d maybe shut up and drop it for a bit.

But I won’t. It’s still ridiculous that Mantis--who is integral to and helped found/run the team--was dropped but fucking Carol Danvers gets added to their cast?? In my (very biased) opinion, you shouldn’t be able to have a team without Mantis’s help. Or that Bendis’s waifu Kitty Pryde gets forced onto the team and out of the X-Books so she can take center stage when there are actual real Guardians far more deserving of the spotlight. You know what would have been much more interesting than the shitty soap opera bullshit that was the terrible/forced starkitty pairing? What if Heather Douglas had been allowed to remain and rebuild her relationship with her father while grieving over the loss of her girlfriend? (While Drax had just been through initially unwillingly building a relationship with Phyla-Vell himself while the two had mourned Heather’s loss together and now Heather’s back, but Phyla’s gone and d’ast it Drax had come to think of her as a second daughter and care for her too.) 

I doubt Bendis had any interest to do anything with them (he already struggles to keep a handle on the cast as is and clearly doesn’t care much for the book, so I doubt he’d want to deal with a second team of Cosmic characters he doesn’t give a shit about). He just needed to throw a bone to bitter Cosmic fans in the hopes we’d stop complaining about the lack of anyone elses’ presence in the team if they now have an established Other Thing that they’re up to to keep them away from Bendis’s Avengers 2.0 team Guardians of the Galaxy.

I'm a huge fan of the whole DnA run, and a lot of cosmic Marvel leading up to that era, but I've never read the Bendis stuff because Nova (RR) is my favorite and I know that the Original Sin stuff is bad.. but should I read the Bendis!GotG just to keep up with characters? Or is it a huge waste of time..

Only if you really love pain and suffering and being angry all the time lol.

The shitfest that was his long, drawn out, continuity destroying, mischaracterization-rife Original Sin tie-in is pretty indicative of what you can expect from anything current Cosmic.

I tried for awhile during the start of his run. And while it didn’t seem so bad at first (only mediocre in comparison to the... cohesion, I suppose, of DnA’s run), it feels like Bendis’s run has been on a steady downward spiral from the start. When I started it, I may not have thought it was great, but I was still willing to give it a change, reading it and waiting for/expecting it to ramp up, assuming that, once he got the book established, he would actually take it somewhere. I bailed out somewhere in the teens because that just wasn’t happening. The writing and characterizations were so bland and there was no real plot and worst of all, the mischaracterization was starting to really ramp up and no longer be not as glaringly apparent and unavoidable. Under Bendis, the Guardians had changed from an organized peace keeping band of universal protectors, veterans born out of multiple cosmic-scale wars to a couple of space bums floating from shitty backwater bar to shitty backwater bar to pick fights and occasionally checkup on Earth. And on top of that, none of the few Guardians who’d made it back onto the team resembled their former selves anymore.

Maybe it’s my misplaced old Bendis loyalties refusing to die down, even though I’m so unhappy with pretty much all of his work nowadays, but I like to believe that in those earlier issues, there was some sort of plan there*, the Guardians were still salvageable. It wasn’t until Humphries came on with his atrocious Legendary Star-Lord that things went totally to shit, the mischaracterization ramped up to an impossible to explain away degree, and I washed my hands of it all and gave up forever. If you want to read some modern “Guardians,” please for the love of God, stop before Humphries gets his grimmy hands on “Peter.” I mean, you should probably not bother at all, but if you must, absolutely avoid Humphries’s shit.

I think the biggest thing that pisses me off about Bendis’s decision to cross his X-Books over into GotG is b/c... like there are so many fucking ACTUAL GUARDIANS he’s ignoring/not even acknowledging ever existed, but he has time to make room for all these characters who had no relation to and no reason to ever meet the team instead???

I suppose it wouldn’t have been so bad if it just was the one time crossover and then he moved on.... and it’s probably not his fault that Humphries decided to bring them back and make them so intertwined? But ugh, the fact that they’re forcing these two disparate spheres of Marvel together instead of acknowledging any of the missing elements from the Cosmic sphere is just. so damn infuriating.
