i seriously think that maxon can be forgiven about the celeste thing. it is HIS selection, honestly, from the beginning america was being warned that he might want everything from her, but not choose her, and he was only making out with celeste. dont get me wrong i was angry , so so angry with maxon. like, how could he do that to America. but then , if america knew about how heartbroken maxon would be if he caught her and aspen, it helps put things into persoective, like they are even??

What really bothers me is not America and Maxon’s relationship itself, it’s The Selection! Only because that awful guy warned America of the “prince’s needs” doesn’t make it ok for him to do just whatever he wants. You know, if you look at the big picture you see the message that The Selection is sending is for the girls to shut up and let men do to them what they want (and when I say The Selection, I mean the actual Selection, not the book!!) I believe that was something Kiera wanted to criticize about Illea and how the government treat their people.

Now, talking about Maxon and America’s relationship itself, two things. I don’t think one wrong undoes the other. America was wrong sneaking out with Aspen! AND Maxon was wrong making out with Celeste. Not for making out with Celeste itself (there’s a lot of itself on this answer!) his commitment to should be the same as to all the others, but, I don’t think it’s right to half propose to someone and then after the first fight you go clear your head on someone else’s lips.

I love Maxon, I love America and I love Aspen. I think they’re all kids messing up, but I still want them to deal with the consequences.
