Snippet from "The Dancing Demon" from 1928
We've recently received a small leak from an anonymous user of a snippet from a private film collector's print of this Bendy cartoon.
From some old storyboards we also have the basic plot for this short is Bendy and Boris get trapped on an island and must dance to appease the natives.
Silly-Vision Archival Project 2025.
FINISHED BENBYYY @kiwi-tex
Gonna draw a twisted/ink demon version of him next :3
Ok... can't belive it, but this is a design I held close to my heart since chap 1 of BATIM was released and was validated by BATDR Benders, with only minimal tweaking this year.
It ain't perfect, it ain't the best, but it's mine and care abt it a lot. Heck, it even influenced my persona if one wouldn't be able to tell.
Here it is, my own stylized version of Bendy
Here are some close ups to the individual parts
Bendy the Blotcat, or simply Bendy as many know, is an obscure yet intriguing piece of animation history and Animated icons. While the character and the franchise he belonged to was resurrected from its ownerless limbo through the Mid-40's to Late 70's, the Bendy of the past had a endearing yet eerie mystery to it compared to the version of Bendy portrayed and cultivated by Archgate Animations.
Originally conceptualized in 1927 by Henry Stein as a simple sketch, the design was fairly simple. A tiny, impish Cat with pointed and curled ears that looked like horns and a little imp tail. After showing a close friend, Joey Drew, the sketch, Drewline Studios would soon be founded, hoping to have Bendy compete in the limelight with the likes of Mickey Mouse or Betty Boop.
By 1928, Drewline Studios' first short "Simply Imply Darlin" would release in theaters local to Joey and Henry's hometown as an intermission before movies started, garnering attention. While this attention was good, some criticized Bendy's devilish appearance, fearing it being satanic in nature. Quickly, Henry Stein would re-visualize Bendy as a more friendly looking character, keeping the pointed ears but softening the tail and his body as a whole, giving him a big, wide grin! While Joey Drew did not like the design, he was rather happy to compromise by keeping Bendy's personality intact.
And thus, a star was born.
..Unfortunately, due to many issues and incidents with Drewline Studios, eventually the Studio would close down after the disappearance of Joey Drew and several workers, including Co-Founder Henry Stein. For 43 years, Bendy and Drewline's other Characters would be stuck in limbo, as no one was willing to touch them due to the circumstances of the years following up the disappearances and closure of Drewline Studios.
Fortunately, someone WOULD take the shot to claim Bendy & Friends:
Archgate Animations.
After acquiring the Bendy IP, Archgate would work to change Bendy to better suit the new Era and breathe new life into him. Giving him a striped jacket and adding their own style to Bendy, they soon changed his name. Now Bendy Blotcat, he was softened further from his original self and now more in line with the personality of rivals like Mickey Mouse, although his knack for mischief still shined through.
Despite the many changes Bendy has gone through, there's still the mystery of just what happened in 1945 that caused Drewline Studios to close and for many employees to disappear out of thin air. Many speculate it was the work conditions and Mr. Drew's declining mental health, however rumors of his religious beliefs still float around, further muddling what is the truth and what is not.
We would also like to note that we have found potential audio from the original "Simply Imply Darling" cartoon from 1928! We are still checking to see if it is real or simply was faked, however we are very lucky to share it all with you. Please enjoy the snippet below!

My friend's hyperfixated on Bendy again, and I like following the leader XP
I decided to redesign some characters to my liking, starting with Alice Angel + Twisted Alice. She looks completely different, but I wanted to try making her look more from the 1930s.
Decided to hop on the Bendy redesign bandwagon, so here's Hanna-Barbera Bendy!
Looney Wanderers Bendy, but this is what he was supposed to turn out like. I honestly love this design I did, I think I would consider it my own view on what toon Bendy would look like.
