It was his aura that she noticed first. A swell of demonic energy much too large for the little body that he inhabited. Immediately she knew he was something different. Special. Greater than any human could ever be, this was no mere child before her.
Beautiful. Ethereal. She couldn't help but watch him, the harsh cut of his hair dancing along his chin as he walked towards where her steps had halted on the sidewalk. He didn't look at her. Didn't notice the priestess staring at him; her blue eyes following him as he passed her. Didn't notice the way her frame turned to keep him in her sight.
For the first time Kagome had found a daiyoukai in her world; and before she could think better of it, she'd reached for him.

haku ( sc . )
after everything that’s happened with sen chihiro, rin’s not completely sure how to act around yubaba’s right-hand man now -- if haku could still be called that, even. with years spent mistrusting him ( and advising chihiro to ) suddenly crushed to dust upon discovering the kindness haku’s truly capable of, rin feels slightly awkward, to say the least. but this conversation isn’t really about either of them. it’s about the girl who left through the tunnel.
❝ so, what’s your plan now? will you be tearing up your contract too? ❞
LET IT BE said that life under the roof of Wizard Howl was NEVER boring. Sophie had been there for only a week and there was not a single day that something extraordinary or extraordinarily ridiculous did not happen, and in the moments when something wasn’t happening, one could expect it to be brewing. So, for her part, Sophie was not the least bit surprised when one of Markl’s practise spells went SPECTACULARLY wrong. The interior of the Castle was left a smouldering disaster zone, prompting Sophie’s immediate venture outdoors.
It was hard to say how long she’d been gone. Logically, it seemed only thirty minutes or so, but the lack of familiar surroundings suggested she’d travelled much father than she’d anticipated. Somewhere between the river and the curious tunnel she was all too NOSY about, she’d lost sight of the Castle squatting in the distance. ❛ Well, now you’ve done it, Sophie, ❜ she said to herself, pausing at the top of a grassy hill overlooking a marketplace she’d never seen before to stretch her back. It cracked something awful when she tried to straighten. ❛ I don’t suppose anyone here has seen the Castle. ❜ She wondered if any of the Castle’s occupants would even come looking for her, once they realised she was missing. She had her reservations about Howl, but Markl might.

She smiled at his words as he said them. Confident. Stern. He may not have known what he was but there was no denying for those that could see. Gliding towards him, her words were a pleasant chime.
"No...I wouldn't think that they would..." Even so, pearlescent fingers found the soft curve of his chin and gently urged it up; forcing him to look at her in the kindest way possible. Her smile faded briefly.
"But I still urge you to proceed with caution" Rub lips curling into a grin once more.
"These aren't the same kind of demons as where you're from..."
