        LIGHTS   ---   all he can see is the blinding flash of white,     hand moving up to cover his eyes before they were burned out of his head   (   it didn’t help,    it felt as if the light was breaking through the gentle split of his fingers,     turning his hand from protective material to TRANSLUCENT skin   ).    and the noise,    the horrible noise that whirred in his ears   ;   an attack on all his senses felt as if it was scraping away at him,     peeling back the layers until just his core remained.    lights dimmed,    spread over the floor in its clinical glow,    and he drops his hand away to look at the   ---   thing.    

         ‘   what the fuck is that ?   ‘   voice sits scratchy and raw in his throat.     eyes blur and he has to look up,    can’t risk looking down unless he wanted to live without his retinas.   a circular disk,    bigger than anything he’d ever seen before,    bigger than starcourt mall,     trails cool air over them.   ‘   oh my god,    we’re gonna get ABDUCTED.   ‘

Ronnie didn’t much LIKE being sent on errands for her parents, but having JUST been asked to walk several houses down to deliver a message, she decided it wasn’t too much and that she shouldn’t complain. So there she stood, outside of the HURST residence with a nicely labeled NOTE in hand.

Kyle’s only been in this godforsaken town for two weeks and she’s already itching to leave, she’s giving it another few days before her FOSTERS start discussing sending her back to the agency.   At least there’s somewhere to eat there.   This new lady’s meatloaf tastes like shit and is the CONSISTENCY of a hockey puck.   But she’s not familiar enough with Hawkins to know where all the good food spots are.   ‘ Hey,   you! ’ Better ask the locals,   she decides.   Hands are shoved into her pockets as she walks over.   ‘ Where do I get a DECENT burger from around here? ’
