Who: Imogen Connolly and Benito Ortiz When: Valentine’s Day, 1978 Where: Greenhouse #4
Imogen took a few moments to make final adjustments to the blanket on the floor and the pillows propped against the wall in the back corner of Greenhouse #4. She had only just found the arrangement of candles to her liking, close enough to provide the right amount of light but not so close that the blanket might catch on fire. It was a cozy set-up and she was fairly pleased with the trail of candles leading from the door to the small nook, tucked out of sight from the frosted widows. Ted would just have to charm them when he came in, lighting them and letting them hover charmingly over the whole set up. Imogen thought it would look quite nice and now all that was left was the picnic basket full of snacks she and Benito had swiped from the kitchen. Well, Benito had done most of the swiping. Imogen had dutifully checked the items off of Ted’s hand-written list and made sure they followed his instructions to the letter. He hadn’t provided too many, leaving some room for interpretation which Imogen decided to have a bit of fun with. “What do you think, love? Does it look alright? Not too overdone, is it?” She asked, leaning back on her heels from her spot on the floor and looking it over once more.
She couldn’t quite tell where Benito was in the dark, he was too quiet to place his movements, so she didn’t bother glancing over her shoulder for him. He moved with such ease in the dark, which in all honesty, she found quite alluring. Imogen, on the other hand, needed time for her eyes to adjust before sneaking around with a semblance of grace. She’d walked right into one of the work tables when they entered the greenhouse and could feel the bruise forming on her hip already. She rubbed at it absently as she stood, satisfied with their work. “Well it looks like our Teddy is going to have himself a happy Valentine’s Day!” Imogen brushed the bit of dirt from her legs and grinned to herself. She wasn’t the biggest fan of Ted’s relationship with Andromeda Black, but she was a sucker for love. It was clear Ted loved that girl, for reasons Imogen didn’t understand, but what did that matter? Love wasn’t something to understand, it was something to feel, and oh what a lovely feeling it was.
“What do you say we go have ourselves a nice Valentine’s Day as well?”
