an important part of the oc development process
I've been working on a pitch bible for the harper-degaulle family as a form of art exercise lately. Step one was doing a bunch of writing and outlines and making a detailed to do list. Step two was making character turn arounds for the family.
Next step is character sheets, expression sheets, and pose sheets! Also some supporting characters and bg characters who need designed and compiled into charts :)

My commentary as I listen to Ocean Avenue after 10 years according to the tracklist
Way Away was the first song I listened to from Yellowcard. The concept of the video was simple yet got to the point of the song. The chorus has got to be one of my favorites. What an anthem for my lost soul when I was 13. The drums on this one. God.
Breathing. I can't believe I can sing every single line. Can you feel it beating, sinking like a weight? The violin on this one. Like kill me now. What a great break-up song.
OCEAN AVENUE. "There's a place off Ocean Avenue, where I use to sit and talk with you" RAHHH. Guitars. Amazeballs. Come on. The chorus is coming. IT'S HERE. The video for this one, go check it out. Can we mention the homage they made to Brand New with the symbol and the director? Like, so much class, you are, Yellowcard. This is the perfect song when you are driving in a car... The song is over.... *weeps.*
EMPTY APARTMENT. My favourite emo song. *scrunches face* "I think sometimes you forget where the heart is" Sing along sad chorus. I'm busy singing along... the verse. OMGGGG. "It's OKAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY" It's gonna be over soon :( It's over.
Life of a Salesman. Something upbeat! Let's go. Dance while sitting on the chair. Dance! A song for his dad! I use to love this song cos it reminded me so much of me and my dad. "Now, I'm older, I want to the same as you" I feel you, William Ryan Key. Such a jam. I remember this was like a positive song, then there was Simple Plan's Perfect which i literally bawled my eyes to when shit went down at home. This song definitely made me stronger. Dad's are the best. The only sad thing about me being a woman is that I could never be a mum. So I'll have to settle to be the best mom ever. Weird thing to say since I dont want to get married.
ONLY ONE. RAHHHHH. EMO LOVE SONG. Go watch the video now. The girl and Ryan looks sooooo adorable here. They are up against soldiers... "You are my only, only one" I wonder if all these sad love songs are about one girl? Did he really hurt the girl? Cos the songs are all about how he failed her. Sad. But don't worry, Ryan is happily married now, guys. Although his wife did get into a horrible accident. But the last time I saw his tweets, she seems to be recovering. SO HAPPY. She must be perffff because Ryan is perffff. The girl in the cideo ends up putting a flower in the soldier's rifle, cliche but I iz touched.
Miles Apart. Nods head. Air guitar. Yes. Okay, maybe I don't remember this song. Let's go to the chorus. Okay, I got into the chorus. I'm so happy I bought this album. I mean I made many mistakes in my teenage life, but buying this album was not one of them. "I'll give it up, for just one more day with you"
Twentythree. IM 23!! Also, during their hiatus. Longineu drummed for Adam Lambert. I dunno why but the vocals here sound different. Am I missing something? Can't find guest vocals... maybe it just is different? About how someone is still holding grudges.
View From Heaven. Ah, this is a good one. It has country vibez, thanks to the cello. Also, female vocals. About someone's passing. But not in a sad, dreary way. In a reminiscing, nostalgic way. "And if we all believed in heaven, maybe we'd all make it thru one more year, down here" NOO RYAN. you were meant to stay. Female vocals so apt. The chorus is so good. "I hope all is well in heaven, cos it's all shot to hell down here"
Inside Out. A fun one. I sense sarcasm. This is definitely one of my favourites. "Here, is a little jealous, I hope you think of me" I like the rhythm of this one. Really nice if you're at the show. "The two of us, take breath like one, the two of us, the two of us"
Believe. This is an inspirational song. Written for the firemen and firewomen after the 9-11 attack. What a great first line: Think about the love inside the strength of heart" "You were strong and you believed" The violins here are amazing. "Be strong, believe" I use to be so sad listening to this song. Even now, I feel choked up. They were real heroes, man. Such a simple chorus but it's so effective. That speech...
One year, six months. A good acoustic one. This reminds me so much of Green Day. I can even hear nuances of Billy Joel Armstrong voice in this one. If you disagree, let's not get into it. This is just a nice song. "I'm falling into/ memories of you/ things we used to do" Second last song of the record, nooooo. "All i got to pull me through, is memories of you"
Back Home. It's the last song, guys. Lighters up, ok. Or phones. They are from Florida i think so this is a song to pay homage to their hometown. About wanting more, then when you get it, you miss everything, all the simple things. "Another day in California, I'm sure back home, they'd love to see it" What a way to end the album.
Thank you for this gem, Yellowcard. If anything, this was a great album. I'm so proud of where you are now. Thank you for getting me through my teenage years. Cos it sucked. And you helped me figure my shit out.
