How do gay actors handle an industry that restricts them from being themselves?
Adult Film Star Arpad Miklos Commits Suicide
Arpad Miklos, otherwise known as Peter Kozma, was found dead in his apartment Monday, Feb. 3, according to his friend Randall Lynch. The apparent cause of death was suicide. Lynch broke the news this morning while on Gwissues with Howard Bragman.
“He was a great guy," says Lynch. "There was a lot more to him than just that surface persona. He was a very active person in the gay community, he gave a lot of money to charities, and was overall a really good guy... He was probably one of the biggest porn stars out there.”
Born in Hungary, Miklos, age 45, was working as a chemist before being discovered by Kristen Bjorn, a porn studio, and moving to America. He has since appeared in over 58 adult films. When we spoke to Bragman about the news today, and why he decided to focus on it for his online news series, he said he wanted to tell the story so that people could see that he was a human and not just an adult film star. Miklos's untimely passing appears to add to a recent slew of death in the gay porn industry, most recently Josh Weston's late last year along with well-known former actors Dror Barak and Erik Rhoades, calling into the question the mental health issues surrounding those in the adult film industry.
When asked if he struggled with depression, drug use, and other personal problems, Lynch says that "haters can hate, people can speculate, but [Miklos is] not going to give a specific reason and give that satisfaction to anyone.”
Miklos was featured in the Perfume Genius video for the song "Hood," which provoked some controversy at the time since it showed the young Mike Hadreas with the much older (and beefier) Miklos.
