I am genuinely asking because I haven’t reached the book benji appears in, what’s wrong with people thinking real Rashid is him?

Thank you for asking! Benji is Palestinian. Having an Arab character played by a South Asian actor is classic Hollywood racism: we aren't the same and don't look it, but Hollywood constantly casts us interchangeably because All Brown People Are The Same. (And obviously there would be added layers of awfulness in doing this to a Palestinian character specifically, given that erasure is so much a part of the Palestinian experience.)

I adore both Benji and Real Rashid and I trust the show to do right by both of them.
