can i kiss you? (kcricket, gemji, FAYXPHE)

she practically screamed it at him from across his apartment, making him stop in his tracks, letting out a shaky sigh. “i do still have a girlfriend,” he says, not turning to face her, afraid, honestly, of how he already knows he’ll feel if he actually looks at her. “and you know i’m really fucking conflicted right now.” he said it to the wall, but he could feel her closing the space between them until he was sure she was nearly just behind him.
“can i kiss you?” she asked again, softer this time, her voice reaching him from just an arms length away, if he just turned around.
“cricket,” he mumbled, turning around finally facing her, looking at him in a way he wasn’t sure she ever had before, a way that reminded him why he was conflicted in the first time, and made it hard to remember why he wasn’t supposed to kiss her. “i can’t.”
“you won’t,” she corrected, still an arms length away.
“i shouldn’t,” but he was stepping closer to her now, hands reaching for her waist, pulling her closer to him, as her arms snaked around his neck.
“you should,” she disagreed, shaking her head at him. “this is right, you know this is right.”
and it was, even if it was wrong it was right. somehow, they were right, there was no way for them not to be. so he kissed her.
her voice was soft, coy, as if she actually thought he might say no. he let out a soft chuckle, reaching out to push the hair out of her face. “any time you’d like,” he told her, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to her lips.
the question came, quite truly, out of the blue. benji had run out to grab takeout, leaving ophelia and fay alone in the riddle living room studying, one of the first moments they’d ever spent alone. “are you serious?” ophelia questioned, looking up from her notebook to see the other girl looking at her intently.
fay didn’t respond, just looked back at her, her face saying it all. ophelia gave a slight shrug. “i mean, yeah, if you want,” she agreed, crawling over to her to close the distance between them.
