Ben stood in front of his closet, brow furrowed. "Where is it?" he muttered, shuffling through hangers for the third time. His favorite black hoodie, the one he’d owned since before he moved to the US, was missing. Again. A smirk tugged at his lips as he shut the closet door, already knowing the where it could be.

few months ago

"You’re actually stealing my hoodie now?" Ben laughed, leaning against his bedroom doorway. You’d burrowed into his oversized sweatshirt after a movie night, claiming his apartment was ‘as cold as a fucking freezer’.

"Borrowing!” you corrected, grinning as you rolled the sleeves up to your fingertips and put your hands against your face. "It’s cozy. And it smells like you"

He’d shrugged, secretly excited that you wanted it. However, when the hoodie never made it back to his place, he bought a replacement. Then another. And another.

present day

Now, his closet was…not there, except for a single neon green gym tee he’d never wear. Ben thought for a little, but eventually decided to drive over to your apartment.

You answered the door, adorably disheveled in his white zip-up hoodie, the one he’d ‘lost’ last week. "Hey, what’s up—"

He breezed past you, beelining for your bedroom. "Ben?!" you questioned, chasing after him.

He yanked open your dresser drawer and froze. Neatly folded inside were all his missing hoodies, along with two flannels and...his sock? "Is that my sock?!"

You crossed your arms, fighting a smile. "You’re being dramatic"

"Dramatic? I’ve got to shoot a video in an hour and my entire wardrobe’s in your drawer!" He took out the black hoodie from the pile, but you snatched it back.

"Wait!" You clutched it to your chest. "What if I get cold?"

He stepped closer, hands settling on your hips. "You’ll survive," he murmured, lips brushing your ear as he tugged the hoodie free. You shivered, and he smirked. "See? You’ve got my flannel. And my t-shirt. And my-“

"Okay, okay" you laughed, shoving him playfully. "Take it. But…" You snagged his sleeve as he turned to leave. "Leave the shirt you’re wearing? For…sentimental reasons?"

Ben rolled his eyes but peeled it off, tossing it at your face playfully "You’re a menace."

He texted you an hour later:

You’ve always notice the smallest details—the way when he laughs the corner of his left eye crinkles, how his fingers drum absentmindedly on any surface to songs he hears, the single freckle perched just below his right cheekbone.

It’s late afternoon, dim light spilling through the blinds as you lounge on the couch, Ben’s head resting in your lap. Tiktok on his phone plays quietly, but neither of you are really watching. Your thumb drifts over his cheek, circling that tiny beauty mark, and he tilts his face into your touch without opening his eyes.

“There you go again” he murmurs, lips curling into a grin. “Always in on that one spot.”

You chuckle, leaning down to press a tender kiss to the freckle. “Maybe I’m trying to wish on it. Did you think of that?”

His eyes flutter open. “You’ve kissed it, like, a hundred times. If it’s a wishing star, you would’ve had everything in the world by now.”

“But,” you say. “All I wish for is for you. It’s your freckle, after all.”

Ben’s cheeks flush pink as he sits up, turning to face you. His hands find yours, lacing your fingers together. “Y’know,” he says, softer now, “when I was a kid, I hated that thing. Thought it made me look… I dunno, messy.”

“But then,” he interrupts, squeezing your hands, “you came along and treated it like it was something special. Like… like a landmark.” His thumb brushes over your knuckles. “Now I kinda love it too.”

You don’t say anything, just cup his face, tracing the freckle once more with your thumb before kissing it again, slow and deliberate. Ben’s breath hitches, and when you pull back, his gaze is molten, full of unspoken everything.
