I want Shiba to be alive for the specific purpose of being the guard dog for the Rokuhiras.
Like, for the rest of time, Shiba's goal will to assure that the Rokuhiras are safe from anyone. Chihiro? Will try and protect him. Him getting with someone? Will make sure that happens and to protect his partner. Him having kids? Will kill someone if they even dare to look at them weirdly.
This dude could be 98 and he will still make sure that the Rokuhiras will be safe no matter what.
