During the cool and crispy fall days of the 1950s, coffee and tea time were accompanied by this creamer in the Harvest Time pattern. 🍁 It was designed by Ben Seibel (1918-1985) a prolific midcentury artist who designed all sorts of home interior pieces from furniture to flatware and everything in between, including dozens of dish patterns like this late 1950s one for Iroquois China. Ben’s designs were so renowned for adding elegance to casual living, that he was often called in to launch a new design for struggling dish manufacturers hoping that his popularity would help save the pottery plant. 🍁 We just totally love the mod shape and pretty color palette of this jaunty creamer. Beverly Loraine Green was born in 1915 in Chicago, Illinois to parents James and Vera Greene. James Greene was a lawyer, and Beverly was their only child. In 1936, she graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champagne with a bachelor’s in architectural engineering, making history as the first Black woman to do so. She went on to earn her master’s from the same university in city planning. In 1945, she earned a masters from Columbia University as well.
