Gingergeepers made a pretty awesome Roman GIF, so I decided to put my dormant animation skills into action and animate something in return. Among many characters to choose, I chose Bensontine because he has a strangeness that fascinates me. I loved his bio and his design, he's such an adorable weirdo! It was my first animation in months, maybe in two or one year and a half, I don’t know, I have no real sense of time. Love me some purple line art.
Initially, the fidgeting he makes with his hands was going to be different, he would do some sort of rotating motion by placing one hand over the other as he rubbed them together. I recorded my own hands doing that and used it as reference, since what I wanted was rather too specific to find online, but even with the assistance from such motion picture I myself made, I wasn't managing to get it right, it was too complicated for me to animate, so I simplified it. The ear flicking turned out better than I intended, because my animation software decided to reverse the order of the frames, which made the flick seem way smoother. It was a happy accident.
