Went to Bit Bazaar, an indie video game and webcomic event today! It was very fucking cool, tucked off in Bento Miso, accessed via alleyway -- got lost twice on my way there and ended up following a dev of Fate Tectonics. Had a lot of fun, met some old friends and spent way too much fucking money!
SAMURAI JACK #1 by Jim Zub and Andy Suriano - Got this signed by Zub. A continuation of the kick ass cartoon whose opening is one of the greatest of all time. ("Wacha! Ja-ja-ja-jack!")
MAGICAL BEATDOWN by Jenn Woodall - Okay, so y'all know how much I love deconstructing manga genres and badass magical girls beating the shit out of people? THIS WAS EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED AND MORE.
MISC STICKERS from Trevor Henderson and Woodall -- GROSS! MONSTER! FACES! Uguu~
I can't stop fawning over this grinning bat's head. (EDIT: Was told by Silvanoir this is not a bat, and is from Gremlins. Still, I like pretending it is because bat heads are boss, so if anyone asks it is.)
From Woodall I got a sweet Sailor Jupiter throwing deuces.
WITHOUT QUESTION by Damien Sohmer and DOM2D - HOLY SHIT. THIS GAME.
This is the beta of the game. Only 50 copies were made, which is a shame because I would gift the shit out of this to everyone for Christmas. I played with a group of friends afterwards and it's placing pretty close to Cards Against Humanity as my favourite card game.
Imagine forcing your friend to speak in a generic asian accent, while ending every sentence in a shitty naruto catchphrase, and being forced to smile. Or not being able to touch your hands, not being able to touch the floor, and beatboxing whenever you aren't talking.
It was so much fucking fun. Would definitely recommend y'all to check it out when it's published.
INTERSTELLAR SELFIE STATION by Love Conquers All Games - Ran into Christine Love as soon as I entered the bazaar and was told to try this out. Definitely not disappointed. It's basically purikura but instead of gross high quality photos that can capture your ugliness, it prints super flattering gameboy-style 4-pixel photos.

Overall: Bit Bazaar was an awesome showcase of Toronto's indie game scene and creative pros. The business.trading card system was damn good PR on their part - my friend and I went to every table because we wanted to collect them all. Along the way, we played some innovative games that I'm looking forward to trying out when they're out and others that were just plain good -- I Get This Call Every Day, I'm Fine and
Home were especially standout vidya. Definitely going next year!
