First impression: Okay, I must admit my 13-year-old self did not find him very interesting when I read the play for the first time.
Impression now: A CINNAMON ROLL, A RAY OF SUNSHINE, THE PUREST SOUL, protect him at all costs, wrap him up in a blanket, feed him, take care of him,, love him. DON'T LET ANYTHING HURT HIM.
Favorite moment: I talked about this a bit more exhaustively here, but 1.4 is my favorite Benvolio moment because he is so carefree, so excited about the prospect of having a peaceful, fun night with his friends. He is so impatient to get to the party—you could say he's being irresponsible; he doesn't care about formality. He just wants to get to the party and dance. And it's just so great to see a calmer, happier Benvolio. For once he doesn't have to take care of others. He can just relax and have fun with the people he loves.
Idea for a story: After Romeo's death, he and Friar Lawrence become more intimate. Benvolio reminds the Friar of Romeo and he begins to be as attached and protective of him as he used to be of Romeo, and Benvolio, who is extremely lonely, feels better when he is around someone as wise and caring as him. They talk about Romeo often. They don't want to let him die in their hearts... but Friar Lawrence passes away not long after the lovers’ deaths, and Benvolio is left alone again.
Unpopular opinion: HE'S IMPORTANT. It annoys me when people say that characters such as Benvolio or Horatio are unimportant because all they do is follow the major characters?? LIKE NO,,,, Benvolio is so important. He does all he can to stop the feud and if you think that's not important then don't talk to me!!!!1
Favorite relationship: Benvolio and Mercutio. They love each other and they are dating.
Favorite headcanon: He can't fight the urge to adopt every abandoned dog he finds in the streets.
Send me a character from Romeo and Juliet!
