She was retired. After Doyle and everything in the basement, seeing with clear vision what had become of her grandmother, she wanted to leave the necromancy behind and to exchange it for investigative techniques and skill. Yet, something kept haunting her. She couldn’t put the case of Hades and the portal called Styx behind her. It left the objects on her shelves, and it made the temptation to use them greater and greater.

Amelia Frances…

The call still came in her grandmother’s soft, lovingly manipulative voice. She had questions, about Hades, about Mikael, about whatever came next. One moment, she was at her desk, and the next, the door was locked and the lights out. Striking the match against the side of the box, she lit one candle then another until she was surrounded, cross-legged on the floor.

Closing her eyes, she opened herself up as an energy source. The memories of the basement flared up again, the grasp and that sinking feeling of being pulled where she’d never come back…to the places where the Librarian had gone. “This is a mistake,” she said aloud as she shifted to blow out the candles when she heard it.

“The heir…the Mikaelson heir…”

“The Mikaelson what now?” She popped back up, listening intently. “Henrik’s the heir.”

“No.”

The spirits spoke together, in something of a flurry and fuss, talking over one another, so Fran pulled out some paper and began to write as it came through.

“The.

Mikaelson.

Heir.

Born.”

Then the chaos stopped as it was replaced with a melody of voices.

“of a Siren.”

“When?” Fran asked.

“It’s already started” said one.

The pen fell from her hand, and she barely muttered a goodbye to the spirits as she took out the flames with a single wave of her arm on her way up to her feet. Running all the way to the Mikaelson house, she let herself in where she found Claire and Rebekah.

“Anikaia’s pregnant!” She blurted out.

“i know we’re all going to have a lot of feelings about that.” 

“I tried to tell Kol,” Rebekah started.

“No, it is Kol’s…” Fran corrected.

“That’s impossible.”

“What’s impossible?” Henrik asked as he entered the room.

“The Mikaelson heir born of a siren,” Fran repeated the prediction. 

“The what?” The Siren herself appeared at the top of the stairs. 

“Oh.” Fran muttered, not expecting to be the one to pass along the joyous news to the mother-to-be herself.

“You’re pregnant, apparently.” Rebekah did it for her.

“Kol can’t have children.”

“Yes, I’m afraid he can,” Fran replied, “but I guess it doesn’t hurt to be sure.” 

Elijah entered on hearing the commotion, and Fran sunk down on the couch beside Claire as Rebekah rose to get a pregnancy test for Anikaia. With a breath, she looked over, “penny for your thoughts?”
