Do you have any unusual plans for Bergman's birthday? Like anything extra special up your sleeve for the big 100 that differs from or expands upon your usual annual bergman fest between his birthday and death anniversary?
I have a couple of little things I’m hoping to do but I don’t want to spoil them here, plus if I don’t manage to do them it’ll be embarrassing! Other than that it’s business as usual, but I have saved some of the films I might have watched last year for this as it’s Bergman’s 100th so that it will be some of the best and my favourite films - with a few so-called lesser Bergmans thrown in too! This year I’m on leave from work for almost the whole of my Bergman Fest (just working on the 30th) so I’m really looking forward to it!
The only really unusual thing about this years Fest is that it’s going to be the last one. I’ve been thinking about stopping for a while or at least taking a break for a year or two and 2018 being Bergman’s centenary feels like a good time to draw a line.
