Ulysses and Mark disliking the names they were given, Ulysses disliking his so much that he wanted to change it to Ulysses which I have always thought is a beautiful name… They need to bond over this. They need to go bond over being fucked over by people that don’t truly care about them their entire lives and heal together.

Ulysses could grow to be organically snarky and stand up for himself more as Mark rubs off on him. Ulysses would be patient enough and give Mark as much time as he needs to progress from his addiction. They would sit together and work, and talk about stuff they find interesting, or just be in each other’s presence, knowing the other cares. Cares enough to spend time with him, to listen to him, to try and make his life just a little more bearable. They understand what it feels like to be unwanted and uncared for. They can sleep knowing that there is someone out there who doesn’t neglect their issues. And then they can have a chance at feeling like they’re actually living for once in their lives.

god i just KNOW that if chapter 2 came out I'd be both angry and depressed having to witness everything in real time, even in the best case scenario where everything was paced as best as it could perhaps I should finalize and post some berhelm fics for my own sanity so they're actually in a healthy loving relationship
