I don’t usually drink bad wine. At least not on purpose. Every once in a long while the wine may be corked, or oxidized, or cooked, etc. Those are not intended. I saw this Beringer White Merlot at Grocery Outlet for $3.99 and figured it was worth a flyer. Let me start out by saying this is a NON-VINTAGE still wine. Classy, like champagne! There is no AVA noted so I’m thinking it’s the famous “I5 freeway in the middle of nowhere” vineyards where you drive by at 115 degrees in the summer and ask yourself, “what kind of grapes grow here?”! This kind, people. This kind. Both on the nose and on the pallet this wine is nothing more than strawberry juice. Some people like strawberry juice, and if you want one that could get you drunk - try this! But there was nothing redeemingly wine-like about this. And yes, it’s what I expected.
