Not tryna be rude or anything, but did you get my previous question about berkfest/berkian con? Just wanted to make sure it didn't get lost (which happens A LOT). ☺️
No worries for double checking! As it turns out, I didn’t get your previous ask. I’ll just yammer a little bit about Berkfest and Berkian Con in hopes that I somehow manage to address what you were saying in the ask I didn’t get. :)
I am aware of both Berkfest and Berkian Con! I’ve been excitedly following information about both of these and wish all the best with these events becoming successes. They are two separate events that are planning on doing two different things. The general information I know about them is:
Berkian Con is an event run by Pola that will take place in the UK, most likely in Birmingham. It will be like a miniature convention complete with merchandise and the opportunity to meet other HTTYD fans.
Berkfest is a USA event run by Jiidesu which is not a convention with merch; it is a planned HTTYD fandom meet-and-greet and theatre-going experience in Boston, MA that will take place during the release of HTTYD 3. There is already a planned theatre and everything for the event! It’ll be at the Loews Boston Common 19 - AMC Theatres on June 29.
Both events will be taking place in 2018 around the time that HTTYD 3 is released in theatres.
I plan to be going to Berkfest in three years and will do everything to make sure I’m there!
Side note: I would be interested in talking to fans in the USA about founding a North American HTTYD convention with merchandise, cosplay, and panels if I hear there is enough interest from other Dragonmarkers. I would be more than interested in doing that and would help arrange it, too, to the best of my abilities; we’d all just need to do a lot of communication to get the ball rolling. But that hypothetical thing I’m just throwing out there would be something separate than Berkfest, which would take place in a different location and at a different time of year! (aka no overlapping with Berkfest so that there can be maximum turnout in the already-planned event Jii’s so wonderfully doing!)
