Quail Hollow Club installed three sets of greens between 2009 and 2017. The 2013 Wells Fargo Championship saw greens torn apart mid-round. Penn G-2 bentgrass in Charlotte's transition zone had been building its verdict for three years. The first replacement — MiniVerde ultradwarf bermudagrass — failed too. Then in May 2016, crews were on the front nine before the final group reached the scorer's tent. Twelve weeks to lay Champion G-12 before the 2017 PGA Championship.
