Today we also celebrate the Pious Veronica. Saint Veronica, according to Orthodox tradition, was the woman with the issue of blood who was healed by touching the garment of Christ. She then became a fervent follower of Jesus, even following him all the way to His Crucifixion on Golgotha. At one point when Christ stopped on the way to Golgotha, Saint Veronica handed Him a cloth on which He wiped His face on. Miraculously, the cloth was left with the image of the face of Jesus Christ, which has come to be known as the Icon Made Without Hands, or the Cloth of Veronica.
