Happy 100th Birthday to the golden gal and great Bea Arthur B. May 13, 1922 D. April 25, 2009. She was not only a brilliant comedic and dramatic actress but a proud supporter of Animal Rights, PETA, and the LGBTQ community. She was a loving supporter of friend the great, iconic female impersonator Charles Piece. She was a sensitive, private, kind person less tough than her famous Maude or Dorothy roles. She loved her family and friends and creative community especially in the theatre. She left 300,000 of her will to Arthur bequeathed $300,000 to the Ali Forney Center, a New York City organization that provides housing for homeless LGBTQ+ youths. The center was heavily damaged in 2012 by Hurricane Sandy, but has since been restored and re-opened. The Bea Arthur Residence, which opened in 2017, is an 18-bed residence in Manhattan for homeless LGBTQ+ youth operated by the Ali Forney Center. "And then there's Maude." . . Robe: @catherinedlish . . I had the privilege to be on talking Toni @toni_homeperm @talkingtonitime tonight and it was a hell of a lot of fun. I introducing Maude to a brand new younger audience and I hope I did well to do that. I'd love giving Maude the "Live" treatment, but who knows what the future holds. I can't recommend Maude enough. It's a beautiful sitcom with a lot if hard hitting topics that still ring true today.
