Circuit of the Americas construction coming along, locals eagerly anticipating first race.

The real Circuit of the Americas track in SE Travis County may not be finished yet, but the miniature one in NW Travis County is getting ready for some racing in just a few weeks. Here is a recent construction pic. Keep your eyes out for some well known F1 cars to be showing up in Austin (in 1:32 scale) this May! Here is what the real circuit will look like: This circuit was designed using Ultimate Racer 3.0. Here's what it would look like in an ideal room The long leg angle had to be changed a bit due to room size constraints, but I feel this is a fairly accurate rendition considering it is plastic track and only 18 feet long. Lawsuit against Formula 1 and/or COTA

Just to be very clear- I do NOT want a lawsuit. I DO want the race to happen in Austin. Plain and simple for anyone who did not understand or who thinks I want to sue. Having an international caliber track with F1 and other racing here in Austin is good for everyone. Mr Ecclestone and Mr. Epstein need to arrive at some sort of compromise in a civil and timely matter, and Mr. Hellmund should be congratulated and compensated for his role in bringing this project to Austin. If all the parties could put greed and personal gain aside, they would all come out of this looking better than they do now with the constant bickering and public put downs. Working together they can all come out looking like heroes. This lawsuit is not about personal gain. If the parties involved want to air their dirty laundry, that's what lawsuits are all about, and the courts and the public will be able to see who the real villains are if the deal does not go through. I don't think any of the parties involved want that. Let's all hope for a speedy and positive resolution, and I look forward to racing in Austin in the near future. Read the full article

Bernie Ecclestone heeft toegegeven fraude te hebben gepleegd. De voormalig Formule 1-baas gaf maar liefst vierhonderd miljoen Britse pond in een trust in Singapore niet aan. Dat weet de BBC te melden. De 92-jarige miljardair heeft nu toegegeven fraude te hebben gepleegd in juli 2015. Hij heeft in die periode maar liefst £400.000.000 niet bekendgemaakt aan de regering. Deze honderden miljoenen werden in een trust in Singapore gestopt. Een 'settlor' stopt zijn of haar vermogen in een trust en dat wordt vervolgens toevertrouwd aan derden, zogeheten 'trustees'. Het juridische eigenaarschap wordt overgedragen aan de 'trustee', met de 'beneficiary' als de begunstigde van de trust. Toen hij donderdag voor het Southwark Crown Court verscheen, zei hij tegen de rechter: "Ik pleit schuldig", nadat hij eerder onschuldig had gepleit. Ecclestone zou volgende maand voor de rechter verschijnen. Omdat hij schuldig heeft gepleit, wordt hiermee een rechtszaak vermeden, maar hij moet nu uiteraard wel de achterstallige belastingen terugbetalen.

Research shows: Formula 1 finally knows how to engage young fans

One of the first things Liberty Media did after buying Formula 1 was to set up a master plan to reach a new group of fans. Not an easy task, as the right people to get started with this were lacking. In haste, Liberty set up an experienced marketing team in London.

Their first task was to find out why young people in particular ignored Formula 1. In the end, it turned out that Formula 1 lacked the charisma that a younger generation was looking for. Formula 1 then decided to embrace sim racing in the first place. This already led to a growth in the number of fans of Formula 1.
