founded in 2010 by jake andrews, deja brew has become a staple of the palo grande neighbourhood. jake’s idea, when starting out, was to create a safe, all-ages space for the lgbtq+ community, where there wasn’t alcohol, drugs, and sex round every corner. in... honestly, very little time, it became a home for just about anyone. anyone who wouldn’t fit in or be given a chance elsewhere, is welcomed with open arms here. jake knows what it’s like, see, to be seen as less, to be misaligned because of who you are, and combined with his paternal look after everyone instincts, it seemed natural he take in anyone who needed it. open seven days a week, from 5am to late, the staff are sort of expected to muck in and do a bit of everything, however some people just straight up cannot bake, some will count out your change 5 times to make sure it’s correct, and some will fuck up with the milk frother 10 times per shift, and the boss is almost always in, and when he isn’t, he’s a phone call away. oh, and he almost always brings his dog with him.

now i’m gonna level with you, i’m rubbish at remembering who’s signed up for what, so if you have signed up on discord you’ll have to remind me. i’m honestly, truly, the worst, i know. i’ve listed below: supervisors, baristas, bakers, cashiers, and former staff. i’ve put space for 4 per category (outside of supervisors who will be like in charge when jake’s out so there’s only really 2/3 needed?) but i’d say each category could hold more, especially baristas. and at deja brew we do not discriminate on any grounds!!! so people of any age, ethnicities, sexualities, gender, ability, etc. are welcome to become a part of jake’s work family, alright?? lets see some diversity, yea??
