AuraApril #4 - Family
“You must give it the final push.” The words of the elder still rang in her tiny head as she looked at the yamaa in front of her. It was barely breathing while her chest rose quickly, trying to fill her lungs with air. She was finally old enough to follow her parents' footsteps and become a hunter of her own. Soon, she would wear the same clothes as all the others, and once she was old enough, she would even be allowed to wear the tribal clothes every adult wore, gaining the full blessing of the dusk mother. “Mevra?” Grevels voice snapped her out of the trance she had been in, slightly looking up at her older brother. “I do it,” the young auri whispered, ready to draw her bow again. Was it always this hard? She slightly shook her head. It was her family honor. All of them were hunters for the tribe. So it would only be natural that she as well would become one. The tribe was as much her family as the auri to her right, who resembled her in so many ways. Every Bairon on this wasteland was her sister or brother. This would only be the first hunt she provided for the family, as many others would follow. With that thought, the bow finally snapped. Mevra watched as the elder hive it over to its final destination as the yamaa finally breathed his last breath. “Now take a deep breath.” Mevra hadn't even noticed that she had held her breath before Grevels words. She looked up at him, a bright smile forming on her lips. “It is for the family.” The young auri was filled with pride when she saw the smile Grevel gave her in return. Today would mark the day when she finally could join Grevel on the hunts.
