For the 50th anniversary of the festival there are now four volumes available on vinyl. Also available is a five disc vinyl box set.
Woodstock three is a three record set with the same layout as the original but with different photos. Woodstock four is a two record set to emulate Woodstock two, again with a similar layout with different pictures. These two releases use the new remastered sound created for the limited 38 disc box set from Rhino, and is mastered by Chris Bellman at Grundman mastering. The quality of the sound is excellent, and the pressings are beautiful, flawless, and pressed on black heavy weight vinyl.
Over the next few years we may see many complete performances from many other artists that performed at Woodstock, as the copyright has expired in the UK this year. The same will be true for the US next year in 2021. So if you missed out on the massive Rhino box set you may still have a chance for full sets of your favorite artists from the festival.
Highlights from Woodstock Three Include a great performance of The Other Side of This Life by the Airplane. Canned Heat burns up the stage with a passionate A Change is Gonna Come/Leaving This Town. Country Joe and the Fish, with a stellar thirteen minute Rock & Soul Music (reprise), and a unique version of 49 Bye Byes from CSN&Y. CCR blazes through a spectacular version of I Put a Spell on You, and a personal favorite is When You Find Out Who You Are by The Incredible String Band.
These are historic performances from a historic event and you won’t be disappointed in purchasing any or all of these wonderful vinyl releases.
