When: 7th January 1978 Where: Hogwarts courtyard Who: Brianne && @berthjorkins​

It was hard to describe her feelings to anybody. Most of the school were caught up in the gossip of the situation. Some of those close to the accused had already spoken out in defence of them but Brie knew there was such a thing as being too close to a situation. When her eyes fell on Bertha, she remembered she had not been the only person on a date that night with one of the boys who hadn’t returned to Hogwarts and so there might be someone who related.

(Well, she knew Florence had been, too, but the situation felt a little different. Florence was James’ actual girlfriend)

“Bertha!” She called before she reached her. With half a jog to cross the courtyard, she offered her a smile. “Hi. How are things? Um, have-- have you heard from Sirius at all?”

Wendy had been spending a good portion of her morning flipping through pages of her textbooks. It was only a few days into the classes and she already felt like homework was suddenly being piled on. But her brain seemed always be preoccupied, thinking about the rumors rushing around the school making her feel conflicted and doubtful. Two feelings she wasn’t all that comfortable with. And then the way she’s been waking up in the middle of the night, cold with sweat clinging to her. Wendy was trying to find something but her mind was instantly brought to someone loudly talking about. She heard their names, the boys from Gryffindor, and her ears picked up. Seeing Bertha, Wendy frowned slightly, getting off her seat in the common room and walking over to the other girl.

“Bertha Jorkins, have a good holiday? Mind me asking what you were saying about Ji-James Potter and his friends, something about an illegal circus?”

Where: Diagon Alley When: 31st December midday Who: Brianne && @berthjorkins​

She had been helping out at the Menagerie for the morning but Brianne had been let free for lunchtime and she wandered down Diagon Alley, looking in windows and trying to decide what she felt like eating. So little was she paying attention that she almost didn’t recognise the figure walking towards her in the street until they were almost passing. “Bertha? Hi!” She greeted the Hufflepuff with a wide grin. “How are your holidays going? Not that there’s long left now!” Brie wasn’t one to pay attention to the news and this time around she had adamantly ignored it because she didn’t want to hear about any tragedies. Vaguely, she had registered her mum saying something about the new term not starting until a bit later than Brie had thought it was but she hadn’t thought much on it, having much more interesting distractions in the form of Xanthus whisking her away on a little adventure.
