GREEN TIPS

1. Window coverings - can save approximately 10% on your winter heating bill. Most heat loss will most likely occur through your windows. Installing good curtains or blinds, and pelmets boxes can more than halve this loss. It's worthwhile investing in custom made curtains or blinds to get the right look for your home.

2. Block out - ensure your curtains go to the floor (where they can) and wrap either side of your window. Line your curtains with ‘block-out’ backing to prevent radiant loss. Use tightly woven materials and an inter-liner, to trap the warm air.

3. Pelmets - by installing custom made pelmet boxes this can help reduce the air circulation around your windows.

4. Double glazing - well designed custom made curtains with pelmets in combination with double glazing, will give you an even greater benefit.

5. Blinds: vertical and venetian blinds do not prevent heat loss. Instead consider fully lined custom made Roman blinds or Holland blinds that fit within the windows reveal.
