That post I just made about playing games on easy mode? Just realized that I do the opposite for World of Warcraft: I always pick the least popular spec for DPS classes, or the tank spec when leveling.
Generally the least popular is least popular because it tends to do lower DPS than the other specs, but I *like* tweaking it until it I get top DPS in raids.
And I tank while leveling, without queuing for dungeons, because I hate dying, so even if it takes me longer to level, I tend to survive longer. If I didn’t hate healing classes with a burning passion, I’d probably level as a healer, too.
Doing something that intentionally makes a game with no difficulty levels more difficult to play? That’s me in WoW. So yeah. Grain of salt, and all that.
