What is the Best Harmonica for Beginners?
The biggest question that I had when I was wanting to get started with the harmonica was, "Which harmonica is best for beginners?"
I searched and searched and found that the harmonica is a very personal instrument and it depends on what you are looking for, and what types of materials your prefer. When you are just getting started you don't really have a clue what you prefer, so in all reality, you just have to buy one and try it.
Even though Lee Sankey (the guy in this video) suggests that you go with a wood comb, I decided to go with a plastic comb from Lee Oskar major diatonic in the key of C, because after much research, and even advice from Lee in this video, I found the Lee Oskar to be the best option for me to get started.
This video gives some great info on how and why to choose the harmonica that fits you best. The Good thing about getting into the diatonic harmonica, is that you have to buy other harmonicas in different keys if you want to play notes that are not in the regular key of C. This is a great opportunity to try other harmonicas, and find out which one fit you and your style the best.
