They clap louder when you win an Oscar.
But people clap the loudest when you fall.

If you’re going on an interstate road-trip, Best Exit belongs on your iPhone Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) January 14, 2010
What’s the best interstate exit for the perfect cup of coffee, pleasing a carload of picky eaters, finding a mechanic or an overnight stay at a favorite hotel chain? The folks at Best Exit say their recently released iPhone app will enable users to know whats located near every interstate exit ahead, even when it’s miles down the road. With its well-designed user-interface, favorite brand and custom keyword search, exit reminder alerts and a robust database of US interstate points-of-interest, this app belongs on every interstate traveler’s iPhone.
Best Exit stands-out among similar location-based apps for several reasons:
Aside from the design and ease-of-use, the main reason to want Best Exit is that its extensive database contains over 350,000 points of interest, or POIs, located within two miles of every interstate exit in the continental United States. Not only is it possible to find favorite chain restaurants and other category brands, its also easy to find restaurants and businesses by keywords. In the mood for sushi or Italian food? Problems with the transmission or a sick pet? Just type it in the search field for up to 50 results — all located within two miles of the interstate exits ahead.
Best Exit uses the iPhone’s built-in GPS to determine where users are and where theyre headed with no user input required. In the upcoming exit view, it “looks ahead” to show users what interstate exits are coming up, and how many POIs there are at each exit. Then it automatically refreshes the upcoming exit view while travelers are driving down the interstate.
The thoughtfully designed user-interface, with its Apple-like clean look, allows users to “get-it” right away. Exit signs on the app look like they do in real-life and are displayed in distance order from the current location, with the distance to each exit indicated as well. Visual cues regarding the number of POIs at each exit are instantly understandable and the larger type makes it easy to read.
Tap on an exit sign to see a 12-category icon matrix displaying the number of POIs for each category located near the exit. With restaurants, for example, it’s easy to drill-down to a detailed list of restaurants available within two miles of the exit, including their distances from the exit. For more detail, tap a restaurant name to see the street address and a Google-map window with its pin-point location. There’s a one-tap phone call button, as well as a one-tap button for driving directions. The one-thumb, one-tap design of Best Exit makes it particularly easy to use.
Best Exit categories include restaurants, coffee shops, gas stations, hotels, banks/ATMs, groceries, campgrounds, hospitals, auto repair shops and veterinary clinics. There’s also a category for favorites, which is based on previous searches. Select favorites from a drop-down list of popular brands like McDonald’s or Starbucks, or save custom search terms like “sushi,” “pizza” or “barbeque.” This offers the flexibility of staying with the tried-and-true chains, or venturing out to find a great “Mom & Pop” restaurant.
“We just want to make sure that everyone that uses Best Exit feels like they have more control over their interstate driving experience, says Best Exit founder and spokesman Mike Kendrick. There’s something about knowing what’s ahead that makes a long drive on the interstate easier and a lot more enjoyable. If you’re going on an interstate road-trip, Best Exit belongs on your iPhone!”
Best Exit is available for download now at the iTunes AppStore.
