You Live Inside Other People's Decisions

Before you woke up today,

To understand the systems it lives within.

And to leave them stronger than they were found.

The same is true of our personal lives.

Tomorrow's choices are built on today's foundations.

The question is never whether you're building.

You are.

The question is:

What kind of world—

for yourself and for others—

I was watching an old looney tunes today and read the year it was made (MCMXLII) and this started me wondering about how we assign things short hand designations.

MCMXLII is 1942 ... the XL bit means subtract X (10) from L (50) because the X comes first.

If it was MCMLXII, it would be 1962, because you're adding 10 (X) to 50 (L)

In clothes though, XL is the extra large size (large plus 1).

If it were LX, it would mean it's a tall (long) size and large plus 1.
