Had to draw @verumtee's super cute version of Beta <33
Had an idea where Beta gets into trying to reproduce the Old Ones' foods.
Would love to see what everyone else would do with this. So join in the fun with #BetaTheCook. More info below: ------------- While Beta had access to the Zenith's APOLLO database, she watched a lot of 21st century shows (including cooking shows).
Beta spends most of her time at the base and without access to the APOLLO's massive repository, she runs out of data logs to read. She reaches out to Aloy as to what she could do to help. Aloy hesitantly suggests training to eventually fight machines out in the wild. After a poor attempt, Aloy apologizes to Beta for pushing her out of her comfort zone. Aloy suggest perhaps a new hobby instead.
Beta goes to Gaia for advice and Gaia mentions some of the companions complaining about the food quality at the base. This lights up the spark of cooking for Beta, she starts with basic tools and foods. The first few attempts are decent enough, Aloy and companions compliment the food. With a new found purpose Beta digs deep in cooking.
Eventually remembering all of those 21st century shows, she mixes her interest of the Old Ones with cooking. (Think Tacos, Hot Dogs, Pizza, etc.) However she lacks ingredients and tools to pull these off. Aloy, being a great supportive sister, says she'll be on the lookout for ingredients, materials and supplies.
----- Exposition over. Think of it as side fetch quests while Aloy is out in the wild. Gathering rare ingredients, combustible materials or metals. I know some people don't like fetch quests but I do, especially if I get rewarded with some fun companion interactions. These might trigger "fruit doesn't belong on cheesy, meaty bread" or "is a hotdog a sandwich" conversations. Or maybe Beta messed it up and gets bad reviews, she gets frustrated, doubts herself or even has a panic attack over it.
Would love to see different interpretations on a potential outfit, companion reactions to Beta's foods or even just Aloy risking herself to gather the ingredients. Possibilities are endless so have fun with it. :)
Side fun note, Beta will now kind of defend herself by knocking out people with her cast iron pan.
