So I have been awoken. And this time it is about the character that disturbs me in Twelve Forever the most.

Its Dustin.

I won’t say that he is unrealistic, but he is really bothering me from the start.

The story of the distanced siblings that got along when they were young but distanced themselves when they were older isn’t that new. There are various reasons why this happens, different interests, different friends or different goals. Of course, there is also the other way round. My big brother and myself couldn’t stand each other for ten minutes when we were kids and it would always end in fighting and bickering, but that changed to a more positive relationship after a while.

But Dustin is falling in a weird type of category. He is falling for conspiracy theorists and aspires to become one of them himself. I won’t say he is an utterly bad person, but this is not a healthy way to cope while growing up. Especially because he is in an age you can learn the most and he is wasting it for crackpot theories and other stuff. He is not on that level of Ronaldo in Steven Universe, which is also bearing an unhealthy personality issue, but still he is treading on a not so healthy path.

Another thing I realized from the plot and teaching perspective he is the only one in Bethune that doesn’t fall in a specific category, aside of being the distanced brother of Reggie. He is just there floating around in his theories. I would say if there is a season 2 they could properly address this situation, even with Reggie helping him out to take this conspiracy theories with a grain of salt or even leaving them for a healthier hobby.

So for my take Dustin is the character that needs to change his outlook on live the most in Bethune. So get some hot cocoa and relax a bit, Dustin, take up yoga or do something healthier with your podcast.

And sorry for my rambling.
