bette porter who hires pet sitter reader to accompany her to gallery events and she’s soooo down bad from the start and then beyond because you ask to see the art before the show to curate an outfit accordingly

slay or no slay at some point someone says something rude about your “cheap” dress and takes on an attitude that has you expressing a choice word. (gen z stare followed by a single “bitch” and just sashaying away)

of course this person winds up being important guest and sees you with bette and tries to use your fire against her interests. blah blah blah “called me a bitch” putting on a scene and you on the spot. bette knows you’re actually very socially anxious hence why you gravitate more so towards animals.

but you do her proud, keep full composure, and simply state with an earnest face “were you not behaving in a manner becoming the word?” and in trying to defend herself exposes she was saying rude stuff sooo. bette moves her hand to the dip of your lower back in support through this and you feel her hand flexing mr darcy style.

you keep your own place but she’s begggging for you to move in after this.
