Happy Birthday
No, it's not my birthday. I was planning on posting another wonderful story, but that will have to wait for another day. The reason is because 1 year ago, I started this site. My goal was to post encouraging stories and amazing things that God has done in my life. The purpose was to bless and encourage everyone who reads it. For anyone that may be going through something to see hope. For someone who has had similar experiences to praise God. For someone who hasn't experienced God that way, to hunger and thirst for their own encounters with Him. For someone who doesn't know God to see that He is real and longs to have a personal relationship with them.
I haven't been as faithful as I intended when I first started this. However, this next year, I plan to post more on this site. My minimum goal is to have at least 52 posts this year. One post a week. With all the terrible things in the world, people long to read and hear stories of hope and encouragement. I believe that as a Christian and someone who claims to walk with God, the creator of the universe, that 52 stories in one year ought to be a given. I really hope I can dig in and meet that goal. Keep me accountable!
Birthdays are really amazing days. Many people don't really care about their birthdays because they just see it as just another day. It just "happens" to be the day they were born. I used to be just like that. I saw it as just another day. I stopped celebrating it and always managed to be doing something else. After I came to know Jesus, He was the one that showed me how special that day truly is. I am a person that believes in the Bible and everything that it says. It says that before He formed me in my mother's womb, He already knew me. (Jeremiah 1:5) The psalmist says that God knit me together in. (Psalm 139:13) Finally, every day of my life was written before even one day passed. (Psalm 139:16)
Birthdays are a wonderful time to celebrate life! Not just the fact that we made it another year, but that it was at this appointed time that I was to be born. Not just this time, but to this appointed family. God's goodness isn't withheld just because someone doesn't believe in Him. He blessed my family with me and He blessed me with my family. Regardless of how they may be, they are still my family.
A birthday is a time to be thankful for another year that has passed. A time to look back to see what you have done. A time to look forward to all the plans for the next wonderful year. It's like our own personal New Years! The will of God for our lives is that every year is better than the last. How do I know? Because He never regresses. He loves us so much that His desire is to make us better and better all the time! This is because the better we become, the higher quality of life we can have! What's even better is that He desires to make our character perfect like His!
II Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." (NKJV)
I hope this next year of this Tumblr page becomes even more encouraging as I know that God is already doing some amazing things in my life. Preparing me for the great work that He has planned for me. Teaching me more about His Word. Leading me to do things that I normally wouldn't be doing. (this fulfills part of a prophecy from four years ago) Guiding me by His Holy Spirit. Learning to hear His voice even more clearly. Having such an intimacy with Him that not spending my days with Him is a scary thought.
I am going to open this up too. If there is something you'd like me to post about, just ask me! I'm happy to post.
