between two thoughts
There’s a space between thoughts, Where one string of ideas ends and another begins. I’m drawn to this blurry spot Where I forget the issues surrounding me like red tinged fog, Where I focus on the golden hues of the smallest details, Where green and blue mix with the flow of absent emotion, Where my eyes aimlessly traverse The lines of each color’s curves. I could point out each shade for days on end, Until my body grows weary and the stars pass overhead. Many things belong among the colors. for my field of vision when you fill my head with dreams And keep them there with a hand around my neck. Powder blue for the sky clouded with doubt That eventually swallows me whole. Hunter green for the signs that point the way Of the winding path home to you. Dandelion yellow for the changing of seasons Each time I wake up with you laying vibrantly in my arms.
I spend these barren moments of time Filling my swatch with innumerable colors, Until the world swipes the pallet blank And forces me to start over again.
